Private departures only — never in a group

Twelve days is the itinerary Morocco actually asks for: enough to circle the whole country — four imperial cities, the blue north, two nights in the Sahara, the kasbah road and the Atlantic coast — without a single rushed stage or repeated road. From €1800 per person with your own vehicle, driver, licensed city guides and every night’s accommodation included, private from first day to last.

The shape is a clean loop from Casablanca: north through Rabat to Chefchaouen, the imperial road to Fes with a full guided day, south over the Middle Atlas to the Erg Chebbi dunes for a camel ride, a camp night and a full desert day, then the Todra Gorge, the Dades and Aït Ben Haddou to Marrakech — two days, guided — before Essaouira’s sea air and the coast road home. Ten regions, one direction, no backtracking.

Travellers searching for a 12-day Morocco itinerary usually hesitate between our 10-day grand tour and the 14-day version: this route is the answer in between — it keeps the 14-day’s second desert day and double Marrakech days, and trades only the far-flung extras. It is the longest itinerary that still fits inside two weeks of leave with flights.

Who books it: first-time visitors who want the whole country done properly once, couples building a honeymoon with substance, and returning travellers upgrading a rushed first trip. October to April is prime season; summer departures start desert days at dawn. Send your dates on WhatsApp and the full day-by-day quote, hotels named, comes back within the hour.

  • The full loop — imperial cities, blue north, Sahara and coast
  • Two desert nights — camp under the stars plus a full dune day
  • Guided days in Fes and Marrakech with licensed city guides
  • One direction, no backtracking, no internal flights
  • Private vehicle and driver from airport to airport

Itinerary

Open a day to see the detail: transport, accommodation, meals and activity time.

Day 1 Casablanca arrival, first light on the coast

Name-board welcome at Mohammed V airport, the Hassan II Mosque esplanade if timing allows, and the road to your first riad. Dinner recommendations booked before you land.

Day 2 Rabat, then the blue city

The capital's essentials — Hassan Tower, the Kasbah of the Udayas — then north to Chefchaouen for dusk in the blue lanes, when the day-trippers have gone.

Day 3 Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis

Morning light in the medina, then Roman Volubilis and imperial Meknes on the road to Fes. Night in a medina riad.

Day 4 Fes, the medieval medina, guided

A full day inside Fes el-Bali with a licensed guide: the tanneries from the terraces, al-Qarawiyyin, the medersas and the mellah — with time to return to what caught your eye.

Day 5 Over the Middle Atlas to the Sahara

Ifrane's cedar forests and Barbary macaques, the Ziz valley's palm ribbon, and the first sight of the Erg Chebbi. Sunset camel ride into the dunes; night at the desert camp.

Day 6 A full desert day

Sunrise over the erg, then a 4×4 day around Merzouga: Khamlia's Gnaoua musicians, tea with a nomad family, the fossil beds, sandboarding if you like. Night in a riad at the dunes' edge.

Day 7 Todra Gorge and the Dades valley

West along the desert road: Tinghir's palm grove, the Todra canyon walls, and the Dades valley's mudbrick villages. Kasbah-hotel night.

Day 8 The kasbah road to Aït Ben Haddou

The Valley of Roses, Skoura's oasis, Ouarzazate's film country — then UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou with time to climb the ksar, not just photograph it.

Day 9 Over the Tichka to Marrakech

The High Atlas crossing at 2,260 m, Berber villages stacked on the slopes, and arrival in the Red City. Evening on Jemaa el-Fna as the food stalls light.

Day 10 Marrakech, guided

A licensed guide unlocks the medina: Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the souks' logic. Afternoon free for the Majorelle Garden or the hammam.

Day 11 Essaouira, the wind city

The argan road to the Atlantic: the Skala ramparts, the fishing port at catch time, grilled sardines, thuya workshops. Night in the medina.

Day 12 The coast road home

An unhurried morning by the ocean, then the coastal road to Casablanca for evening flights — or an extra Marrakech night if your schedule prefers Menara departures.

Good to know

Paced for two-week trips: no day exceeds one long drive, and the two longest road days both end at the dunes or the coast. The loop closes in Casablanca, so one airport serves arrival and departure.
