Morocco is best eaten where it's cooked: our culinary-minded circuits run from €1050 per person for 7 days, always private — your own guide who knows which grill, which souk stall and which family table is worth the detour, never a group in sight.

Why eat your way across Morocco

Morocco is one of the world's great food countries, and the best of it never reaches restaurant menus: it's in the homes, the souks and the roadside grills. Our food-led circuits build the eating into the route — a street-food safari in Tangier, dinner at a family table in Fes, a market-to-pot cooking class in Essaouira, mint tea poured from a height everywhere in between.

Food-lovers' routes at a glance

Each route is private and paced for eating well: markets in the morning, the right lunch stop on the road, and tables no bus tour can reach.

Eat where locals queue

Street-food safaris in Tangier, Fes and Marrakech with guides who know the right stalls.

Family tables

Dinners cooked and shared at local homes — the dishes that never reach restaurant menus.

Market-to-pot classes

Cooking lessons that start in the souk with a basket, not in a kitchen with a printout.

A country of regions

Fried fish in Tangier, pastilla in Fes, tanjia in Marrakech, sardines on the Essaouira port.

Tastes worth the journey

Every region owns a dish: Tangier its fried fish, Fes its pastilla, Marrakech its tanjia slow-cooked in the hammam ashes, the coast its charcoal sardines. Travelling with a driver-guide who knows where locals actually eat turns every travel day into a tasting menu.

Morocco food and drink

On the road

  • Eat pastilla in Fes where sweet and savoury stopped arguing centuries ago
  • Learn a real tagine from a dada cook, market shopping included
  • Grill-line sardines on the Essaouira port, straight off the boats
  • Taste amlou and fresh argan oil at a women's cooperative
  • Break bread at a Berber family table in the mountains or the oasis

When to go

Food routes run all year. Spring brings the rose harvest and green markets; autumn the dates and olives; Ramadan evenings (ask us for dates) turn every city into one shared table after sunset.

Travel tips

Food questions, answered

What will I actually eat in Morocco?

Beyond tagine: Friday couscous, tanjia slow-cooked in the ashes of a Marrakech hammam, grilled sardines at the ports, harira soup, msemen off the griddle, mountains of oranges and olives, and pastries built on almonds and honey. Your guide's job is knowing which stall does each one properly.

Can we take a cooking class?

Yes — a cooking class in Marrakech or Fes slots into any private itinerary: market shopping with the cook, then the meal you made. Tell us on WhatsApp and we build it into the route.

Is street food safe to eat?

Largely yes, with the local rules: eat where locals queue, hot and cooked to order, fruit you peel yourself. Travelling privately helps — your guide steers you to the stalls he actually eats at, not the ones that photograph well.

Can you handle vegetarian, vegan or other diets?

Easily — Moroccan cooking is generous with vegetables, pulses and eggs, and every meal on a private tour is arranged ahead. Tell us the constraint (vegetarian, halal-only, gluten-free, allergies) and the kitchens along your route will know before you arrive.

Do food tours cost more?

No — food is woven into the normal circuits rather than sold as a supplement. The 7-day Discovery route starts at €1050 per person; add a cooking class or a special dinner and we price it transparently in the same quote.

“The traditional restaurant served some of the best food we had during our trip, and the live entertainment and show were spectacular. The atmosphere was magical and made for such a memorable experience.”
