Four days, four cities — the long weekend that behaves like a full trip. You land in Casablanca and sleep twice in Fes, giving the medieval medina an entire guided day; then Volubilis, Meknes and an afternoon-and-evening in blue Chefchaouen before Rabat closes the loop back to your flight.

The trick of this route is density without haste: motorway stages, two-night anchoring in Fes, and one highlight per half-day. It is the itinerary we build for city-breakers, stopover extenders and anyone testing Morocco before committing to the grand tour.

Private vehicle and driver-guide throughout; licensed local guide for the Fes day.

Four days across the north’s essential cities, from €600 per person: Casablanca to Fes on day one, a full guided day in the medieval Fes medina, then Roman Volubilis, imperial Meknes and blue Chefchaouen, closing through Rabat back to Casablanca. Private car, driver and licensed city guides throughout.

It is the itinerary for travellers who cannot reach the desert this trip — a business stay extended by a long weekend, a cruise stop, a first reconnaissance — and still want Morocco’s historical heart rather than a single city. Every night is in a real riad or hotel we name in the quote, and the loop starts and ends at Casablanca airport.

Four days is genuinely enough for this circuit because the distances are short: nothing north of Casablanca is more than four hours’ drive. Dates on WhatsApp — the full day-by-day quote comes back within the hour.

Who this tour is for: four days from Casablanca to taste the north and reach Fes. One more day, and Northern Morocco Tour from Casablanca – 5 Days rounds it out; for the north done properly, the Northern Morocco Tour – 10 Days is the real answer.

Four days from Casablanca’s arrivals hall and back: Fes done properly with a full medieval day, then Volubilis, Meknes and blue Chefchaouen threaded on the return through Rabat. It is the northern taster for the time-poor — a long weekend that banks three UNESCO sites and the blue city, and leaves the desert as the reason to come back.

  • Two nights in Fes — a full guided day in the medieval medina
  • Volubilis, Meknes and Chefchaouen threaded on one scenic road
  • Rabat's kasbah on the return leg
  • Motorway stages, one highlight per half-day
  • Runs all year — ideal winter city break

Day 1 Casablanca, then the road to Fes 2 stages

Your driver meets you at Casablanca airport and, after a pause at the Hassan II Mosque esplanade for the scale of the thing, takes the motorway east across the wheat plains. Fes arrives by evening: check into a riad inside the old walls, dinner a lane or two away, and the world's largest car-free city waiting at your threshold for tomorrow.

Day 2 Fes, the medieval city 1 stages

The heart of the trip: a full guided day in Fes el-Bali. The blue gate of Bab Boujeloud, the carved cedar and zellige of the Bou Inania madrasa, doorway views into Al-Qarawiyyin — founded in 859 — the coppersmiths' square in full concert, and the Chouara tannery from a terrace, mint sprig in hand. The evening is yours; the Marinid tombs at sunset frame the whole smoking city.

Day 3 Volubilis, Meknes and blue Chefchaouen 4 stages

West with two stops that would headline lesser trips: Volubilis, Morocco's great Roman site, its mosaics lying open to the sky on an olive-covered hill; and Meknes for Bab Mansour, the most beautiful gate in the kingdom. Then north into the Rif, arriving in Chefchaouen for the blue hour — lanes at their deepest colour, dinner on the Uta el-Hammam square, rooftops for the last light.

Day 4 Chefchaouen — Rabat — Casablanca 3 stages

One blue morning — early lanes, coffee on the square, the photographs everyone comes for — then the run south to Rabat for the Kasbah of the Oudayas and a seafront lunch, and on to Casablanca for your evening flight or onward night. Four days, four cities, no minute idle and none rushed.

Questions travellers ask

How much does Casablanca to Fes Tour – 4 Days: Morocco’s North in Brief cost?+

From €600 per person, per person. The price includes private air-conditioned 4×4 or minivan with english/french-speaking driver-guide — 4 days, pickup at casablanca airport or your hotel, nights 1–2: fes riad (2 nights) — half-board. You receive a written itemised quote before paying anything — no hidden fees.

How long is this tour and when does it depart?+

4 Days, departing on the dates you choose — there is no fixed schedule, because every departure is arranged for you alone.

Is this a group tour or private?+

Fully private: your own vehicle, driver and licensed guide, never seat-in-coach and never mixed with other travellers. The daily pace flexes around you.

When was Chefchaouen painted blue?+

The blue is a 20th-century tradition that deepened over the decades — histories often credit the town's Jewish community in the 1930s with spreading the wash — and today residents repaint their lanes regularly, which is why the colour always looks fresh. Earlier Chefchaouen was largely whitewashed, as Rif towns typically were.

What is Chefchaouen known for?+

The blue-washed medina above all — but also its Rif-mountain setting, a famously relaxed pace compared with the imperial cities, the sunset view from the Spanish Mosque, cold spring water at Ras el-Maa, and wool weaving you will see drying on the walls. It is Morocco's most photogenic small town.

What does Chefchaouen mean?+

The name comes from the Berber word for 'horns' — chaouen — after the twin mountain peaks that rise directly above the town. Locals simply say 'Chaouen'.

What is there to see in Chefchaouen?+

The blue lanes themselves are the sight: give them an unhurried morning. Beyond them, Uta el-Hammam square and the kasbah, the Ras el-Maa spring where the medina meets the mountain, the Spanish Mosque viewpoint at sunset, and — for walkers — day hikes into Talassemtane National Park. One overnight covers it beautifully.
