“When should we come?” is the question we answer most, and the honest reply is: it depends which Morocco you want. Here is the country’s calendar, without brochure varnish.
The headline answer
March–May and September–November are the sweet spots everywhere: warm days, cool nights, green valleys or golden light, every region open. If your dates are flexible, aim there and stop reading.

Winter (December–February)
Superb for the south and the Sahara — gentle days, cold starry nights — and quietly wonderful in the cities: crisp light, empty medinas, fireplace evenings. Pack a real coat; riads are built for summer. Skip only the high-mountain treks unless you like crampons.
Summer (June–August)
Hot inland — Marrakech and the desert routes demand dawn starts and midday shade — but this is when the coast and the Atlas shine: Essaouira’s breeze, Al Hoceima’s Mediterranean, valley walks at 2,000 m. Summer trips work; they just choose geography accordingly.
Wildcards worth planning around
The rose harvest (Dades, late April–May), Gnaoua festival (Essaouira, early summer), date season (oases, October), and Ramadan, which shifts rhythms rather than closing the country — ask us for this year’s dates.
Month-by-month detail, desert temperatures and packing lists live in the weather FAQ; every circuit adapts its pacing to your season.
Everything on this page can be woven into a private itinerary — start from the travel FAQ, and we shape the rest around you.
Anas Benjelloun — Anas covers the practical side of travelling in Morocco — money, SIM cards, taxis, scams to sidestep, what things cost and when to book. He updates his pages the boring way, by checking, and takes a quiet pride in the fact that his airport-to-medina instructions have never stranded anyone. If a price appears in one of his articles, he has paid it recently.
