The 4-day Tangier to Fes tour costs from €600 per person — a private one-way through northern Morocco with three nights half-board (a Chefchaouen medina guesthouse, then two nights in a Fes riad), your own driver throughout and a licensed-guide day in the Fes medina included. The route never backtracks: Tangier fades into the Rif with an optional Akchour waterfalls hike, Chefchaouen gets the golden hours day-trippers miss — sunset from the Spanish Mosque path, empty blue lanes at dawn — then Roman Volubilis and Meknes’s Bab al-Mansour break the road to Fes into history rather than kilometres. The final morning adds the Batha Museum or a zellige workshop before drop-off at Fes airport. It pairs naturally with a flight into Tangier and out of Fes — or with our 4-day desert crossing onward to Marrakech. Written quote within the hour on WhatsApp.

The shape of the route is its argument: you never backtrack. Tangier fades behind the Rif, Chefchaouen gets the golden hours most day-trippers miss — evening on the Spanish Mosque path, morning in empty blue lanes — and Volubilis and Meknes break the transfer to Fes into history rather than road. The final day’s artisan workshops answer the question the tannery terrace raises: how all of this is still made by hand.
Why this version and not a loop? Because the north rewards a straight line. Ending in Fes puts you one street away from our 4-day desert crossing to Marrakech — together they make the definitive 8-day Morocco run from the Strait to the Red City.
Open a day to see the detail: transport, accommodation, meals and activity time.
Your driver meets you in Tangier, the old gateway between Europe and Africa — time for the medina and the Zoco Chico square if your arrival allows, or we head straight for the Rif. An optional 2-3 hour hike reaches the Akchour waterfalls before the day settles into Chefchaouen: the blue-washed lanes, Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the kasbah with its garden and small museum. At dusk, the 20-30 minute walk up to the Spanish Mosque pays the day's best view — the whole blue city lighting up below.
An early start southward with the morning light still on empty blue streets. First stop: Volubilis, Rome's farthest African outpost and a UNESCO site, where merchant houses, temples and floor mosaics still sit where they were laid. Then Meknes, the calmest of the imperial cities — the colossal Bab al-Mansour gate, the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and the vaulted Royal Stables. We reach Fes by late afternoon and climb to the Marinid Tombs for the panorama over the medieval city before your riad evening.

A full guided day in the oldest imperial city, a UNESCO site split between Fes el Bali, Fes el Jdid and the Ville Nouvelle. The licensed guide threads you through the spice, leather and tin souks, onto a terrace above the Chouara tannery with its 11th-century dye pits, into the 14th-century Al Attarine madrasa, and past Al-Qarawiyyin — founded in 859 and among the oldest working universities on earth. The day closes in the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter, with its rooftop view over the city.

Before your flight or onward journey, a last Fes morning: the Batha Museum, a 19th-century palace given over to Moroccan arts — carved cedar, zellige, pottery — or a ceramics and zellige cooperative where you watch the mosaic masters cut, glaze and assemble by hand. Drop-off at Fes airport or your hotel; the tour also connects directly to our 4-day desert crossing from Fes to Marrakech.
This is the one-way version: it starts in Tangier and ends in Fes, which pairs perfectly with a flight into Tangier and out of Fes — or with our desert crossings that leave Fes southward. Four days is tight but honest for the north; the Akchour waterfalls hike on day 1 is optional and weather-dependent.
From €600 per person, per person. The price includes private air-conditioned vehicle with english/french-speaking driver-guide — 4 days, pickup at tangier airport, port or your hotel, night 1: guesthouse in the chefchaouen medina — half-board. You receive a written itemised quote before paying anything — no hidden fees.
4 Days, departing on the dates you choose — there is no fixed schedule, because every departure is arranged for you alone.
Fully private: your own vehicle, driver and licensed guide, never seat-in-coach and never mixed with other travellers. The daily pace flexes around you.
The blue is a 20th-century tradition that deepened over the decades — histories often credit the town's Jewish community in the 1930s with spreading the wash — and today residents repaint their lanes regularly, which is why the colour always looks fresh. Earlier Chefchaouen was largely whitewashed, as Rif towns typically were.
The blue-washed medina above all — but also its Rif-mountain setting, a famously relaxed pace compared with the imperial cities, the sunset view from the Spanish Mosque, cold spring water at Ras el-Maa, and wool weaving you will see drying on the walls. It is Morocco's most photogenic small town.
The name comes from the Berber word for 'horns' — chaouen — after the twin mountain peaks that rise directly above the town. Locals simply say 'Chaouen'.
The blue lanes themselves are the sight: give them an unhurried morning. Beyond them, Uta el-Hammam square and the kasbah, the Ras el-Maa spring where the medina meets the mountain, the Spanish Mosque viewpoint at sunset, and — for walkers — day hikes into Talassemtane National Park. One overnight covers it beautifully.
