Morocco has one airport decision that shapes the whole trip, and it is simpler than it looks: fly into the city your first night sleeps in. Domestic hops are rarely worth it — the country’s magic is the roads between cities. Here is the honest comparison.

Airport Fly here if… Into town Best onward moves
Marrakech (RAK) Marrakech, Atlas, Agafay, the southern desert routes 6 km · 15-20 min Essaouira 2 h 30 · Imlil 1 h 30 · Sahara circuits from 2 days
Casablanca (CMN) Long-haul arrivals & connections; grand loops ~30 km · train from the terminal (~45 min) Hassan II Mosque, then Rabat 1 h · Marrakech 2 h 30
Fes (FEZ) Imperial north, Chefchaouen, the desert crossing ~25 min Meknes 1 h · Chefchaouen 4 h · Merzouga crossing 2-4 days
Agadir (AGA) Beach & surf first 25 km · ~30 min Taghazout 50 min · Taroudant 1 h 10 · Marrakech 2 h 50
Tangier (TNG) Coming via Spain (or ferry instead!) 20-30 min Chefchaouen 2 h 30 · TGV south · north-to-south tours
Ouarzazate (OZZ) Straight to kasbah country minutes Aït Ben Haddou 30 min · desert routes without the Tichka
Essaouira (ESU) The wind city directly ~15 km Marrakech 2 h 30 · the coast at your feet
Errachidia (ER) Fastest air route to the great dunes — Merzouga ~2 h — then the Erg Chebbi camp

The open-jaw trick that saves a day

Morocco’s best itineraries fly into one airport and out of another: Fes in, Marrakech out (the desert crossing becomes your transfer), or Tangier in, Marrakech out (the whole country, north to south, no repeated road). Fares price this kindly, and our 4-day crossing and 10-day north-south tour are built for it.

When connections decide for you

Long-haul travellers often route via Casablanca regardless — fine: either connect straight on to Marrakech or Fes, or do the smart stopover (the CMN guide covers the in-terminal train and the Hassan II Mosque pause). Detailed arrival guides: Marrakech · Fes · Agadir · Tangier. Tell us your inbound flight on WhatsApp (+212 755 700 484) and the right itinerary follows from the runway.

The road leg, solved once: whichever airport you choose, our fixed-price transfer grid publishes every major Vito run (Casablanca €250, Agadir €250, Essaouira €200, Rabat €350, Tangier €450 — per vehicle, up to 7), and chauffeur-driven hire from €250/day covers multi-stop days in any of our seven cities. Arriving into the economic capital, our VIP transport in Casablanca handles Mohammed V airport meet-and-greet, roadshows and the express run to Rabat.

For a fixed-price airport transfer booked before you land, Medina Transfers covers Marrakech Menara to any hotel or riad, with the price known in advance.

About the author

Karim Alaoui — Karim covers Fes, Meknes and the imperial cities. He is the kind of traveller who reads the dynasty before the restaurant list, and his pieces carry that habit: a medina is easier to love when you know why it was built. Expect precise walking routes through Fes el-Bali, honest notes on which monuments justify their ticket, and a stubborn insistence that Meknes deserves more than a lunch stop.

Questions travellers ask

How do I book a tour?+

Pick a circuit and use the booking widget on its page (choose a date and number of travellers), or simply message us on WhatsApp at +212 661 454 738 with your dates and group size. You receive a booking reference (KM-XXXXXX) and a reply within the hour. No payment is taken at this stage.

Can I send my request by email instead of WhatsApp?+

Yes. The booking form lets you choose how to send your request — by WhatsApp or by email — and we answer through the channel you picked. Either way your request is registered with the same reference number.

What happens after I send a booking request?+

We check availability for your date, confirm the price for your group size, and send back a confirmation with your reference. Only once you approve that confirmation is anything considered booked.

When and how do I pay?+

After your booking is confirmed you can pay securely online, or on site in cash or by bank transfer before departure. We never ask for payment before confirming availability and price in writing.
