Arriving by ferry or flight into Tangier and leaving from Marrakech is the smartest one-week geometry Morocco offers: no backtracking, three worlds in seven days, and the country unfolding southward like a scroll. This is the route in its honest proportions.
Days 1–2: Tangier and the blue interlude
Day 1: Tangier’s revived medina, the kasbah museum, cap Spartel where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic (the city’s full case here). Day 2: two hours into the Rif to Chefchaouen — arrive as the day-trippers leave, and the blue town at dusk is yours.
Days 3–4: the medieval heart
Day 3: Chefchaouen’s morning light, then south past Ouazzane’s olive country to Fes (about 3½ hours). Day 4: the full guided Fes immersion — Talaa Kebira, the tanneries, the Kairaouine’s doorways — the day this route is secretly built around.
Days 5–7: over the Atlas, into the red
Day 5: the middle Atlas — Ifrane, cedar monkeys — and down to Beni Mellal country; or the train-of-thought variant via Rabat if the coast calls. Day 6: arrival in Marrakech, first plunge into Jemaa el-Fna at lamp-lighting hour. Day 7: the guided medina morning, gardens in the afternoon, flight or one more tagine.
