What each duration really buys
3–4 days: one city done well (Marrakech + a day trip) — a taste, not a trip. 5–6 days: the first honest format: Marrakech plus the Zagora desert or the coast — our 5-day circuit (from €750 per person) exists precisely here. 7–8 days: the classic: cities + the real Sahara at Merzouga, one long driving day accepted (the 1-week blueprint). 10 days: everything above without the rush, plus Fes — the loop, day by day. 14–16 days: add the north (Chefchaouen, Tangier) or the coast in depth: the 16-day grand tour (from €2400) is the full canvas.
The three numbers people forget
Distances: Marrakech–Merzouga is 9–10 hours’ driving; every dune night costs a travel day each way. Arrival/departure days are halves, not days. Pace tax: every hotel change eats a morning — which is why 10 days with 5 bases beats 10 days with 8.

How many days in Marrakech is enough?
Two full days covers the essentials without exhaustion: a guided day for the monuments and the souk system, then a free day for the Majorelle garden, a hammam and aimless medina walking — the city’s real attraction. A third day opens the excursions: Ourika, Essaouira, or the Agafay stone desert 45 minutes away.
