Flying in and out of Marrakech? Ten days buys the grand loop — desert, gorges, Fes and the mountains, returning to the red city without repeating a road. This is the route we build most for RAK-to-RAK travellers, with its honest hours.
Days 1–2: the red city first
Land, riad, Jemaa el-Fna at lamplight; then the guided medina day — souks, Bahia, the lanes with a licensed guide who owns them. Marrakech makes the best first chapter because everything after it feels like plot.
Days 3–5: the desert arc
Day 3: over the Tizi n’Tichka to Aït Ben Haddou’s ksar and the Skoura oasis. Day 4: the Dades and Todgha gorges — canyon walls at dawn beat canyon walls at noon. Day 5: the Ziz palm valley south, camels at golden hour, a private camp in Erg Chebbi’s big dunes.
Days 6–8: north to the medieval capital
Day 6: desert sunrise, then the long climb north — Midelt, the cedar forests and their macaques — into Fes by evening (the honest big-drive day). Days 7–8: Fes fully — the guided immersion, then Volubilis and Moulay Idriss or a free medina day.
Days 9–10: the middle kingdom home
Day 9: south via Ifrane’s alpine oddity and Beni Mellal country — or the imperial detour through Meknes — landing back in Marrakech for a farewell rooftop dinner. Day 10: a hammam, last souk diplomacy, flight home with the loop closed.
