Which coast should I choose — Atlantic or Mediterranean?

The Atlantic brings surf, wind and big scenery (Essaouira, Taghazout, Dakhla); the Mediterranean brings calm, warm swimming (Al Hoceima, Saïdia). For pure swimming holidays the Med and the lagoons win; for character, the Atlantic.

Where is the best swimming on the Atlantic?

The sheltered lagoon at Oualidia, Agadir's long urban beach, and Essaouira on its calmer days. Elsewhere respect the currents — swim where locals swim and where flags fly.

Where do surfers go?

Taghazout and Tamraght north of Agadir are the classic winter wave zone, with schools for beginners; Imsouane's endless right suits longboarders; Essaouira teaches well in summer. Surf mornings slot easily into tailor-made coastal weeks.

And kitesurfers?

Essaouira's bay is the accessible playground; Dakhla's lagoon is the world-class one — flat turquoise water, steady wind, lessons for every level. We arrange lodges and gear at both.

When is beach season?

June to September for easy swimming everywhere; Agadir and Dakhla stretch warm into and through winter. Atlantic water stays refreshing year-round — wetsuits are normal outside summer.

Are beaches conservative in dress?

Resort and tourist beaches see ordinary swimwear without fuss; on small-town and rural beaches, one notch more modest reads as courtesy. Topless bathing is not done anywhere.

Can a desert circuit end with beach days?

It is one of our favourite constructions: dunes first, then Essaouira or Agadir to wash the sand off — several published routes do it, and tailor-made versions can add as many sea days as your flights allow.
