The hour after sunrise and before sunset, everywhere — and Moroccan middays are harsh. Photography-minded tailor-made days invert the usual rhythm: shoot early, rest at noon, shoot late; drivers and guides adjust happily.

What is the etiquette for photographing people?

Accepted Answer

Ask first, accept refusals gracefully, and tip performers and posed portraits modestly. Long-lens candids of unwilling subjects are what earns photographers a bad name; a smile and two words of Darija earn better pictures anyway.

Can I fly a drone in Morocco?

Effectively no for visitors — drones require prior authorisation and undeclared ones are confiscated at the border. Leave it at home; the dunes photograph magnificently from their own crests.

Military and police installations, checkpoints, ports and some royal sites — your guide flags them. Inside working shrines and mosques (where entry is possible at all), follow posted rules and the guide's lead.

Dust is the enemy: bring a blower, change lenses inside a bag, and keep a UV filter on. A headtorch for blue-hour dune walks and a spare battery (cold nights drain them) complete the kit.
